Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is Lagree Fitness? Lagree is a high-intensity, low-impact workout performed on a patented machine called the Megaformer. It blends strength training, cardio, endurance, flexibility, and core exercises.
  • How is it different from Pilates? While the Megaformer is an evolution of the traditional Pilates reformer, Lagree is distinct. It is a more intense, full-body workout with a greater emphasis on muscular endurance, continuous tension, and cardio, with minimal rest between exercises.
  • How often should I take a class? Most studios recommend 2-3 classes per week to allow your body time to recover. However, some experienced clients may take classes 4-6 times a week.
  • Will I burn a lot of calories? Lagree is designed to build lean muscle and keep your heart rate elevated, so you will burn calories both during and after the workout. Estimates vary, but many sources suggest burning between 300-700 calories in a 45-50 minute class.
  • How long does it take to see results? While every body is different, clients who attend class multiple times a week often report feeling and seeing results within a few weeks. The key is consistency.
  • Do I need to be in shape to start? No. Lagree is designed for all fitness levels. Instructors are trained to offer modifications and variations for every exercise to make it easier or more challenging depending on your current fitness level.
  • Is the workout safe for injuries or during pregnancy? You should always consult with your doctor before starting any new fitness routine, especially if you have a medical condition or are pregnant. However, the low-impact nature of the workout makes it a good option for many people, and instructors can offer modifications.
  • What’s The Science Behind the "Shake"? The hallmark of a Lagree workout is the "shake," which signifies muscle fatigue and effective muscle stimulation. This is no accident. The workout is scientifically designed to be effective by focusing on a few key principles:
  • Continuous Tension: You perform exercises slowly and with control, with no momentum. This keeps your muscles under constant tension, stimulating a greater number of muscle fibers and promoting muscle growth and definition.
  • Time Under Tension (TUT): Each movement is performed at a very slow and controlled pace (e.g., 4 seconds up, 4 seconds down). This prolonged TUT is what leads to the "shake" and pushes muscles to fatigue, which is necessary for them to adapt and get stronger.
  • Slow-Twitch and Fast-Twitch Muscle Activation: The slow, controlled movements primarily target your slow-twitch muscle fibers, which are key for endurance. However, as these muscles fatigue, your body is forced to recruit fast-twitch fibers, which are responsible for power and strength. This dual-fiber activation is highly effective for building a lean, strong physique and burning calories.
  • Minimal Rest: The transitions between exercises are quick, keeping your heart rate elevated and activating your cardiovascular system. This turns the strength training into a cardio workout, leading to what's known as the "afterburn effect" or EPOC (Excess Post-exercise Oxygen Consumption), where your body continues to burn calories long after the class has ended.
  • What should I bring to class?
    • Grip socks: These are required for safety and hygiene on the Megaformer and are available for purchase on our app to be collected at the studio.
    • Water: It's recommended to bring a water bottle.
    • Comfortable clothing: Fitted workout attire is recommended so the instructor can see your alignment and form.
  • Should I eat before class? It's best to avoid a heavy meal right before your workout. A light snack about 30 minutes beforehand is a good option.
  • What should I know for my first class? Arrive at least 10-15 minutes early to meet your instructor, get familiar with the Megaformer machine, and learn some basic exercises before class starts. Don't be intimidated by the machine; it takes a few classes to feel comfortable.
  • Do I need a private class first? No. Group classes are small and instructors are able to give individual attention and modifications as needed.
  • What if I'm late? If you are more than 5 minutes late, you may not be allowed into class, and your spot may be given to someone on the waitlist.
  • What is the cancellation policy? We require 12 hours' notice for a cancellation to avoid being charged or losing your class credit.
  • What is the waitlist? If a class is full, you can add yourself to a waitlist. We will automatically add you to the class and notify you (typically via email or a notification from our app) if a spot opens up, usually up to a few hours before the class starts.
  • Are packages or memberships refundable or shareable? No. We have a strict "no refund" policy on purchases and do not allow class credits or memberships to be shared with others.
  • Do you have showers or lockers? We don’t have showers but we do have cubbies available for your footwear.

The Megaformer is the cornerstone of the Lagree method. FrameWRX Lagree uses the ultimate Mega Pro, the leading machine in the Lagree range. The machine features:

  • A gliding carriage: This is the moving platform that allows for a massive range of exercises and resistance.
  • Springs: The springs provide variable resistance. The different color codes or numbers on the machine correspond to varying tension levels, which allows for infinite modifications.
  • Handlebars, straps, and platforms: These components allow for a wide range of movements that engage the entire body from multiple angles.
